Welcome to my website! I am an artist working in Cirencester, Gloucestershire and have a studio in The New brewery Arts in the centre of town. After studying Fine Art at Falmouth Art College specialising in Painting I went on to qualify as a teacher and became Head of Art at Kingshill School in Cirencester. I left this position 12 years ago and since then have continued to progress and develop my mixed media painting.

My work is continually changing and developing. I take inspiration from what I see around me from day to day. Much of my work focuses on Cirencester in Gloucestershire where I have lived for 20 years, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, where I spend much time with my family. These places are beautiful, familiar and hold a great deal of visual interest. I particularly enjoy a subject that has plenty of structure, colour, shape and form, such as Cirencester marketplace, its buildings, or fishing boats in Scilly. Recently I have been looking to new locations including South Devon, Pembrokeshire and London.

I have always experimented with mixed media and have become fascinated by the use of text and paper collage. My work is built up in layers combining collage, (generally of local interest) acrylic paint and acrylic inks using a range of techniques to apply the media. I find that quick spontaneous marks help to give a feeling of movement and harmony. It is important to me that the work has a balance of busy and quiet areas, and combines abstract qualities together with a recognisable sense of place.

I have a wide range of Still Life work available in my studio, vintage ceramics combined with food imagery such as fruit and fish, also birds. These are mostly painted in oils and from life (except the birds!) Again I like to experiment with various techniques.

I have a passion for beach combing and the findings are incorporated in my relief plaques of fishing boats and market places. I also use tin, wire, plastic and collage and generally have a lot of fun creating these quirky little pieces!

At present a great deal of my time is taken up with private commissions. If you would like me to produce a individual piece of work for you or a friend please come and visit me at the studio or contact me via this website.
